“She came from the ocean, this wild girl from the sea, her hair flowing southwards, she walked towards me. A west to east smile, with eyes steely grey, like a storm in the distance, rolling in from the bay.” Read on to discover how this mermaid inspired editorial was designed.
Janna Brown designed the most incredible mermaid-inspired editorial for The Hybrid Co. Hosted in the spring, the shoot boasted the most beautiful details, from sprinkled sand to hand drawn calligraphy, as well as the barnacle-encrusted seaglass. Meanwhile, detailed stories revealed themselves within each vignette, including the gorgeous hand-scripted calligraphy by Boho Ink and wind-blown bridal gowns. The palette exuded a mixture of cool and organic tones and further complimented the views of the Pacific Ocean.
The day was full of sunshine, with breathtaking light reflecting off the sandstone cliffs. Each bridal gown blew beautifully in the wind and mimicked the movement of the waves. Above all and to compliment their dresses, each bride wore earrings made of coral. I especially loved the sea-inspired tones hinted throughout the floral pieces. For the reception tablescape design, Janna placed beautiful ivory-driven floral centerpieces. Additionally, coral elements, small seashells, and antique silverware decorated the space. Finally, each model had natural, glowing makeup set by Beauty Bespoken. All of these elements created one seamless editorial and illustrated organic elegance, mermaid bridal beauty, as well as earthly movement.
